ILOILO City – A man shot to death a neighbor who previously complained against his backyard pigs in Barangay Balibagan, Santa Barbara, Iloilo around 9 a.m. yesterday.
Pig raiser and suspect Richard Lozada, 37, shot Daniel Garcia Sr., 57, said Inspector Ramil Jacaba, Santa Barbara police station officer-in-charge.
There was a heated exchange of words before the shooting at the backyard of Garcia, he added.
Garcia succumbed to gunshot wounds on his belly, chest and left arm. He was declared dead at the Western Visayas Sanitarium.
Lozada fled after the shooting. His whereabouts remained unknown as of press time.
Another man was wounded in the shooting – Frederico Ferrer, a companion of Lozada at the time of the shooting,
Ferrer allegedly tried to stop Lozada but failed. He was wounded on a shoulder.
Police recovered empty shells of a Super 38 pistol at the crime scene.
Lozada was forced to transfer his small piggery business to Dingle, Iloilo sometime ago after Garcia complained to their barangay council against it, Jacaba said./PN
