New Aklan police director named

KALIBO, Aklan – A police official formerly assigned in the region’s aviation security unit will take over the command of Aklan Police Provincial Office.

Colonel Esmeraldo Palomara Osia Jr. will replace Colonel Lope Manlapaz, who completed his two-year tour of duty as the province top cop.

The change of command ceremony will be held on May 28 at Camp Pastor Martelino in this capital town.

Prior to his reassignment, Osia was the former acting provincial police director of Guimaras province and chief of the Regional Aviation Security Unit (AVSEU) in Western Visayas. He was also assigned as the AVSEU chief in Northern Mindanao two years ago.

Osia will now oversee the administrative operations of 17 municipal police stations in Aklan including Boracay Island, and the 1st and 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Group Company.

The newly-appointed police chief is a graduate of Master in Public Management, major in Development and Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines’ Graduate School of Public and Development Management in 2016.

He was promoted to Police Senior Superintendent rank by President Rodrigo Duterte last 2017. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
