KALIBO, Aklan – One of the major goals of the new police director of Aklan, Police Colonel Ramir Perlito Paradero Perlas, is to improve the provincial police’s crime solution efficiency.

“Paigtingin natin at patuloy tayong mag-strategize,” he said during a recent turnover of command.

Perlas challenged his men to step up the campaign against illegal drugs, criminality and insurgency.

“Sabay-sabay nating gagawin itong mga priorities,” said Perlas, a former high school teacher prior to joining the Philippine National Police.

Perlas replaced Police Colonel Esmeraldo Osia Jr. who was reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Police Regional Office 6 in Camp Delgado, Iloilo City.

He vowed to continue the internal cleansing at the Aklan Police Provincial Office.

“Kasama dito ang disiplina ng mga kapulisan sa pagpapatupad ng batas, maging God-fearing sila,” he stressed.

Perlas is a resident of Numancia, Aklan. He got his high school diploma at the Numancia School of Fisheries and finished his college education at the Northwestern Visayas Colleges in Kalibo.

The 55-year-old Perlas started as a teacher at Boracay National High School in Malay, Aklan in 1988. Three years after, he decided to enter the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

A member of PNPA Class 1993 (Tagapaglunsad), Perlas was initially assigned to the Regional Mobile Group in Negros Occidental.

He also had a stint at the Batan, Aklan municipal police station.

In 1999 he was the chief of police of Molo police station in Iloilo City.

Perlas was deployed to Timor-Leste (East Timor) for the United Nations Mission in 2002, then moved to the Aviation Security Group in Iloilo, Cebu and Manila from 2003 to 2005.

Perlas also served as provincial police director of Dinagat Island and Agusan Del Norte, and chief of the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division of the Police Regional Office of the Caraga Administrative Region./PN
