SAN JOSE, Antique – Newly installed Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial director Melisa Navarra unveiled the agency’s priority plans for Antique this year.
Programs on livelihood, emergency deployment, special program for the employment of students, and other regular DOLE programs remain the agency’s priorities, according to Navarra.
But DOLE is stepping up its campaign on the compliance of companies to its Department Order (DO) No. 183 series of 2017, or the “Revised Rules on the Administration and Enforcement of Labor Laws Pursuant to Article 128 of the Labor Code, as Renumbered.”
“We really campaign for the regularization of employees in the private sector and urged them to voluntarily comply with the provisions of DO No. 183,” said Navarra.
Meanwhile, DOLE regional director Johnson Canete thanked stakeholders in Antique for their active involvement in the implementation of DOLE programs under former DOLE provincial director Lorraine Villegas, who Navarra replaced.
Canete also encouraged the stakeholders to continue supporting DOLE under Navarra’s leadership.
Navarra committed to keep the feats of DOLE-Antique and its partners for the past years.
She said she would pursue the programs that prevent child labor in Antique.
Eight villages in the province were already declared as “child labor-free” communities.
DOLE this year also aims for the institutionalization of the Public Employment Services Office in every town in the province. (With a report from Pilar Mabaquiao/PIA/PN)
