BACOLOD City – The new chief of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) assured they would act on the concerns raised through the city government’s “Isugid kay Mayor” (Report it to the Mayor) online complaints desk.
Police Colonel Noel Aliño, acting BCPO director, partnered with the city government’s Public Information Office (PIO) to provide a quick response to complaints related to crimes and other police matters.
“I asked them to refer the complaints to me directly,” Aliño told reporters during his visit to the Bacolod City Government Center on Wednesday, April 19.
PIO head Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa said she was glad for the opportunity to work with the BCPO.
Aliño took over as BCPO chief effective Tuesday, April 18. Aliño. He replaced Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir following the turnover of command ceremony at the BCPO headquarters.
In an interview, Aliño also said he will review the crime incidents in the city so they can address the unsolved cases.
He ordered all station commanders to intensify police visibility.
“The police should be visible on the streets to ensure the safety of the public. We should focus on crime prevention and control. The station commander should be a good leader to address the crime incidents within their areas of jurisdiction,” Aliño added.
On Tuesday, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez himself challenged the new BCPO leadership to do better in ensuring peace and order in the city.
He told Aliño that the “challenge is to adhere to the highest excellence because that is what the people want.”
The mayor also assured the BCPO that the city government would be a strong partner and support the local police in terms of resources and logistics. (With reports from Philippine News Agency)/PN
