ANTIQUE – A three-story capitol building would soon rise in this province.

The provincial government of Antique has allotted more than P900 million for it.

Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao was hoping the construction of the proposed Antique Provincial Capitol in Barangay Atabay, San Jose de Buenavista town would start as soon as possible.

Cadiao said they target opening the bids in March 2023.

“Hoping this March sana ma-bid kay ti bahul ni nga project and the fund is from the savings of the provincial government,” said Cadiao in an interview with Panay News.

However, she added that they were still waiting for the approval of the Sangguniang Bayan of San Jose de Buenavista to allow the province to construct the government center on the six-hectare agricultural land bought for P118 million.

The current provincial capitol is congested and lacks sufficient parking spaces for clients, said the governor.

Aside from the new capitol building, the complex would also house, among others, the new Hall of Justice, a convention center, a greenhouse, and a building for the national government agencies.

It would feature green building designs and would harness solar energy as its power source.

“This project would make the transactions of the public easier, as the majority of the government agencies, local and national, would be located on the same site,” added Cadiao./PN
