MALAY, Aklan – The new port administrator vowed to improve the overall customer experience in Caticlan and Cagban jetty ports in Malay, Aklan.

Former Provincial Board member Esel Flores assumed the post on July 4, the first Malaynon to handle the operations and management of the main gateway to Boracay Island.

Flores said they will take steps to improve the queue management to avoid bottlenecks of incoming and outgoing passengers.

aticlan port handles more than 900,000 passengers from February to June after the government relaxed the travel restrictions for tourists.

Roll-on roll-off vessels are also operating with direct trips to Batangas and Mindoro for travellers.

With the influx of tourists, Flores is offering solutions tailored to meet the passengers’ needs and to enhance operational efficiency from security screening, embarking and disembarking to motorboats and vessels.

Ports in Malay, Aklan will also undertake repair and maintenance works to the existing infrastructure due to physical impacts of natural disasters.

Flores said the Caticlan and Cagban ports are prone to tropical storms and predicted water changes that could devastate the local tourism and businesses./PN
