ILOILO City – Beginning tomorrow, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) will have a new director – Police Colonel Eric Dampal, former director of the Compostela Valley Police Provincial Office who also had a stint at the Police Regional Office 11 or Davao Region.
Dampal, 54, is replacing Police Colonel Martin Defensor whose new assignment is as chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s Directorial Staff vice the late Police Colonel Marlon Tayaba.
The turnover of command will be held at the ICPO headquarters. It will be led by Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police director.
A native of Bukidnon, Dampal belonged to the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1992.
In a telephone interview, Dampal told Panay News his three main thrusts are the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling, and ICPO internal cleansing.
“I’m so particular on internal cleansing, especially the tamang bihis (correct wearing of uniform). It’s nice to see our personnel wearing clean and new uniforms,” said Dampal.
This is Dampal’s first time to be assigned in Western Visayas./PN
