BACOLOD City – Celebrations welcoming the year 2024 in this city were generally peaceful, said Lieutenant Colonel Ronnie Brillo, administrative officer of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director.
There were zero reported crime incidents, particularly in the three community fireworks display areas (Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), Bacolod Public Plaza, and the Old Bacolod Airport), he added.
Police personnel were deployed in these areas to maintain peace and order.
Brillo thanked everyone for their cooperation.
Meanwhile, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez expressed his gratitude to BCPO director Colonel Noel Aliño for leading the city police force in making Bacolod safe.
The gathering at the BCGC was filled with performances and raffles before the New Year countdown.
It was Darlene Grace Aurelio, a resident of Barangay Vista Alegre, who won a brand new car, while five others each won motorcycles./PN
