ILOILO City – Celebrations of the New Year in the city and province of Iloilo were generally peaceful.
Colonel Joeresty P. Coronica, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), expressed his gratitude to the public for their cooperation.
He noted that the peaceful celebrations were the result of collective efforts.
“Local authorities, local organizations, force multipliers, village chiefs, the media, and individuals worked hand in hand to ensure a harmonious environment during the revelries,” Coronica said.
The ICPO reported no significant incidents in the city’s seven different districts, as monitored by the City Tactical Operation Center and the respective station commanders in their areas of responsibility.
Coronica extended his wishes for a Happy New Year, emphasizing the importance of unity in maintaining a crime-free, drug-free, peaceful, and orderly Iloilo City.
“Let our unity stand for a crime-free, drug-free, peaceful, and orderly Iloilo City,” he added.
Similarly, the province of Iloilo welcomed 2024 harmoniously.
According to Colonel Ronaldo Palomo, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), despite the occurrence of some crimes in the province, the police were able to resolve and apprehend the suspects involved.
Based on records from the IPPO, there were 114 vehicular accidents in the province from Dec. 24 to 31, 2023. This showed a decrease compared to the 131 accidents during the same period in 2022.
Palomo also expressed gratitude to the public for their continuous support in promoting peaceful celebrations in the province./PN
