BACOLOD City — Mayor Monico Puentevella will deliver his first “state of the city address” since becoming a mayor last year during the Sangguniang Panlungsod session this Wednesday.
What makes Wednesday extra special for the mayor is that he will also be celebrating his birthday that day.
Puentevella said he renamed his public address “Ulat ni Mayor (Mayor’s Report)” because he does not like the sound of “SOCA,” or State of the City Address, which his predecessor, now Cong. Evelio Leonardia, used to call his.
He said he will deliver his speech, which is expected to last for almost an hour, at the lobby of the People’s House.
Puentevella said the City Council session will open at the People’s House lobby and will continue at the council’s session hall after his speech.
Aside from the city councilors, businessmen, 61 barangay captains, and representatives from the academe, military and the media, among other sectors, have been invited.
Puentevella is expected to speak about the achievements of his administration, and his plans and priorities for the remaining two years of his leadership.
He said he will tackle education, traffic, infrastructure, waste management, peace and order, city hall computerization, and speedy disposition of business permits.
Upon sitting as mayor, Puentevella also changed the name of the city hall building from Bacolod Government Center to People’s House.
The new city hall edifice was built during the time of Leonardia, the incumbent mayor’s political rival./PN
