BACOLOD City – The newly renovated Bacolod City Arts, Sports and Cultural Center at the Bacolod City National High School (BCNHS) in Barangay Taculing here was inaugurated on Friday, February 8.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez and Cong. Greg Gasataya led the inauguration and turnover ceremonies of the P10-million project.

Mayor Benitez, in his speech, recognized the importance of providing a quality training ground for athletes for their safety.

He said the inauguration is the result of the project implemented under the special education fund (SEF) of the city government wherein wood tiles were utilized for the renovation of the basketball court, making BCNHS the first public school to have such material.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Bacolod MassKara Coliseum in Barangay Alijis is currently ongoing.

The city government had allocated an P800-million budget for the project during the administration of former mayor Evelio Leonardia.

The construction commenced in 2020 and it is now almost 80 percent complete.

The city needs an additional of P51 million for the installation of elevators and chairs for the bleachers./PN
