SAN JOSE, Antique – The National Food Authority (NFA) in Antique is now open for palay procurement.
NFA provincial manager Marianito Bejemino said traders can sell their stocks to NFA warehouses in San Jose and Culasi.
The NFA will buy palay (husked rice) for P17 per kilogram (kg) with a P0.20-per-kg incentive fee for drying and P0.20 to P0.50-per-kg incentive fee for delivery.
The NFA will also give P0.30-per-kg cooperative development incentive fee to NFA-accredited farmers’ organizations that will sell their stocks.
The agency will accept wet palay with moisture content not exceeding 30 percent.
Mobile palay procurement teams will also be deployed in areas where the rice prices are relatively low.
Local government units can request them from the NFA when mobile procurement is needed.
Farmers who do not have NFA passbooks can sell a maximum of 200 bags of palay to the NFA for first time. NFA passbooks will be required for succeeding transactions.
