The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has recently turned over a classroom building in Matagnop Elementary School in Dao, Capiz as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Gracing the turn over ceremony of the newly-constructed two-classroom building were Nelson Cabangon, Head of NGCP’s Corporate Affairs department; Department of Education (DepEd) Division Superintendent Dr. Eveleth Gamboa; DepEd District Supervisor Dr. Marlon Destreza; Matagnop Elementary School Head Lourdes Estonina and Parent-Teacher Association president Arnold Ombid who led the simple ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Cabangon said the NGCP will continue to become a channel in building better future for the students.
He added they share the same vision with DepEd in terms of improving the quality of education in the country.
Cabangon is also grateful to Matagnop Elementary School for giving NGCP the chance to help them. He also encouraged residents to be their partner in the protection of the country’s transmission lines.
Meanwhile, Estonina noted the donation is a dream come true for students as well as in the community. She also assured of maintaining and preserving the donation given to them.
Matagnop Elementary School has a limited number of classrooms and school facilities with poor condition. Around 240 students will benefit from the new school building.
Brgy. Matagnop hosts NGCP’s 138-kilovolt Panit-an – Nabas transmission line serving as the main transmission backbone in Western Panay./PN
