BACOLOD City – The city government-contracted garbage hauler, IPM Construction and Development Corp. (IPM-CDC), is proposing a new garbage collection scheme.
Neil Marcelino, project supervisor of IPM-CDC, suggested rescheduling the daily collection of trash at night in select city barangays.
The move, according to Marcelino, will ease traffic congestion at the city’s major thorough fares and ensure efficient garbage collection.
“We are planning to change the collection schedule from day to night. Some areas here are becoming an eyesore,” Marcelino pointed out.
In IPM-CDC’s proposal, business establishments and local residents in select areas should place their trash outside their establishments and houses from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Garbage collectors will start hauling at 10 p.m.
Marcelino said they intend to submit their proposal to the Solid Waste Management Board before this month is over./PN
