Nine Bacolod City brgys get P5.35-M TUPAD aid

BACOLOD City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) granted a total of P5.35 million in emergency employment assistance under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) to the city’s nine barangays.

During the turnover ceremony coinciding with the 2024 Kalayaan Job Fair held at SM City Bacolod yesterday, the following barangays received their respective checks: Barangay 1 –P513,600; and barangays 2, 3, 11, 15, 17, 18, 33, and 37 each received P480,000.

TUPAD aims to provide emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers.

Barangay 18 received an additional P1 million from DOLE Region 6 discretionary fund, which can benefit an additional 281 informal workers.

Barangay 18 captain Madeline Diaz said she is thankful for the DOLE assistance that will provide emergency employment to more qualified residents.    

Meanwhile, around 6,895 local and 1,595 overseas job vacancies were up for grabs at the job fair.

DOLE-6 said 45 were hired on the spot as of 12:40 p.m. yesterday and assured employment from various industries./PN
