THE 2021 Asian Hybrid Continental Chess Championship May 21 at the tornelo.com playing platform with 82 players from FIDE Zones 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 competing for seven qualifying slots for the 2021 World Cup.
The event is a nine-round Swiss competition to be played according to FIDE Hybrid Chess regulations. The time control is 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. The Philippines, under FIDE Zone 3.3, has 15 players in the tournament.
After two rounds of play, nine undefeated players are tied for first with two points apiece. They are GMs Yunglun Xu, Ehsan Ghaem Maghami, Sumiya Bilguun, Nodirbek Yakubboev, Javokhir Sindarov, Urtnasan Nasanjargal, Shanglei Lu, IM Sugar Gan-Erdene and FM Jagadeesh Siddharth. A large group of 21 players, among them Filipino IM Daniel Quizon, are sharing 10th to 30th places with 1½ points apiece. Incidentally, Quizon and IM Michael Concio Jr. already qualified for the 2021 World Cup when they finished 1-2 in the recent 2021 Zone 3.3 Zonal Chess Championships.
