Ninobla bags 2nd online poomsae gold medal

MANILA – Filipina taekwondo jin Jocel Lyn Ninobla captured her second online gold by ruling her joined event in the SMART/MVP Sports Foundation Online National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
The former University of Santo Tomas standout and 2019 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist tallied 8.333 points to be crowned as the black belt senior female division champ.

Ninobla first won her online gold in the 1st Online Daedo Open European Poomsae Championships.
Finishing behind Ninobla were Aidane Laxa (8.150), who grabbed silver, Daphne Ching (8.100) and Mikee Regala (8.067).

Patrick Perez, on the other hand, struck gold medal in the men’s black belt senior division with a score of 7.967 points.

The 2019 Southeast Asian Games silver medalist eked out victory over Raphael Mella, who had 7.933 points. The Bronze medal winners, meanwhile, were Ilonggo Joshua Cachero (7.750) and Dominic Navarro (7.733).

Like in a regular poomsae competition, the scoring criteria being used in the online tourney are jin’s accuracy and presentation. Speed and power, control of power, speed and rhythm, and expression of energy are crucial in the presentation part of the participant’s performance./PN
