NIR’s Ferraris bags gold in PRISAA Nat’ll Games

MANILA – John Kenneth Ferraris of the Negros Island Region (NIR) clinched a golden finish in the men’s athletics event of the PRISAA National Games 2024 at the Bicol University Track Oval in Legaspi City, Albay.

Ferraris, a standout of the University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, finished on top in the tertiary men’s shotput event after finishing the competition on top with 12.42 meters.

“All the hard work and hardships I faced was all worth it,” Ferraris wrote on his Facebook page. “Thank you sa tanan nga nag-support and nag-believe nga ako ma-gold sa nationals.”

Jennifer Hudieres of University of St. La Salle-Bacolod claimed a bronze medal in the tertiary women 100-meter hurdles event after finishing the competition in 16.70 seconds.

Daisy Rivera of Guang Ming College (Region 4) captured the gold medal with 16.09 seconds performance, while Western Visayas’ Angelica Poche Belandres settled for silver with 16.10 seconds.

Charlaine Deocampo, also from USLS-Bacolod, captured two bronze medals in the tertiary women 400-meter run and tertiary women’s 400-meter hurdles event.

In taekwondo, Cherry Angela Rodriguez of the USLS-Bacolod clinched a gold medal in the tertiary women 50-kilogram kumite event.

Daniel Ian Tabujara from the same school also clinched a gold medal for the NIR in the secondary boys 61-kilogram kumite event.

Meanwhile, the NIR trio John Ababao and Lui Franz Lomugdang of University of St. La Salle-Bacolod and Clarence Villaflor of North Negros College clinched a gold in the tertiary men’s badminton team event

Meanwhile, the NIR secondary girls badminton team of Arkeexa Valens Ojera, Nichol Marie Paguio, Leanne Olegon, and Jollyen Ylosorio claimed a bronze medal in their event.

The USLS quartet of Krystel Monique Galanza, Mika Ella Medina, Arthea Judd Escamilla, and Andreana De Venecia ended with silver medal in tertiary women lawn tennis event after bowing to Region 7 in the finals./PN
