MANILA – NLEX Road Warriors is set to bolster its backcourt after acquiring star guard Robert Bolick Jr. from NorthPort Batang Pier as part of a three-team, seven-player trade.
Based on the approved trade deal on Monday, the Batang Pier send the former San Beda University Red Lions standout along with backup point guard Kent Salado to the Road Warriors.
In exchange, the Batang Pier received veteran guards Celedonio Trollano and Kris Rosales as well as center Benedict Adamos to the Road Warriors along with a future second round pick
Trollano, however, did not last long with NorthPort as he was shipped to San Miguel Beermen in exchange for Allyn Bulanadi, Jeepy Faundo, and a future second round pick.
NLEX team governor Ronald Dulatre said they entered into a trade with the Batang Pier as they want to strengthen their backcourt following the season-ending ACL tear injury of Kevin Alas.
“In light of Kevin’s unfortunate injury, we recognize the pressing need to fill the void left by his scoring and leadership. Robert Bolick is a remarkable player, and we believe his skills and experience will significantly contribute to the NLEX Road Warriors,” he said.
“We are excited about the prospect of having him on our roster and look forward to the positive impact he can make for the team,” added Dulatre in a statement posted on NLEX’s website.
Dulatre also said that the departure of Trollano, Rosales, and Adamos were huge blows for the Road Warriors team, but he is hopeful that the three will continue to flourish at the Batang Pier.
“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Don, Ben, and Kris for their dedication and hard work with the NLEX. Each of them has played a crucial role in our team’s journey, and we wish them continued success, both on and off the court,” Dulatre said.
“This proposed trade provides them with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents with another team, and we genuinely appreciate their contributions to the NLEX Road Warriors,” he added./PN
