MANILA – NLEX posted its eighth win in the 2017 Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup after defeating GlobalPort 109-99 on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Import Aaron Fuller scored 33 points to lead the way for Road Warriors. Juami Tiongson added 21, including five 3-point conversions, while JR Quinahan and Kevin Alas pitched 18 and 12, respectively.

NLEX opened the match with a 22-5 lead on inside hits by Fuller and Tiongson. Batang Pier countered with a run late in the period behind Terrence Romeo to come to within 22-33.

GlobalPort continued to rally in the second quarter behind Romeo to lock the scores at 48. Road Warriors regained the lead 56-50 on conversions by Fuller but Batang Pier scored two straight hits from Murphy Holloway to cut the deficit 54-56.

There was a tight exchange in the third canto. Road Warriors was hanging on to 60-56 until GlobalPort answered with hits from Holloway to snatch a slim lead.

NLEX pulled away early in the fourth quarter on back-to-back triples by Tiongson. Conversions from Fuller and Quinahan widened Road Warriors’ lead to 11 markers.

Holloway finished with 29 points while Romeo added 24 points but these were not enough to prevent GlobalPort from sliding to a 3-4 win-loss record./PN
