BACOLOD City – The policeman who was killed in a drug bust and was included in the so-called narco-list of President Rodrigo Duterte was laid to rest in a private cemetery here on Sunday noon.
Senior Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, who was killed in Dipolog City last Monday, was not given by the police any honor guards or the usual 21-gun salute during the burial attended by his family, friends and colleagues in the service.
During the eulogy, his family and close friends said Rapiz was living a very simple lifestyle and easily made lots of friends and acquaintances.
They vehemently denied allegations thrown against him that he was a drug protector and called for divine intervention to give justice to his death.
During the burial at high noon, horns of motorcycles were honked instead of the traditional 21-gun salute.
The family also released white balloons and doves into the sky as a symbol of peace.
Earlier the family called on Congress to conduct an inquiry into Rapiz’s death in hopes of clearing the allegation that he was a drug protector. (ABS-CBN News)
