BACOLOD City – This December, employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government will only be receiving P5,000 each in Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI).
In previous years, the PEI was between P35,000 to P40,000 for each employee.
The dramatic drop in PEI is due to the release of the first tranche of the Salary Standardization Law 4 (SSL 4), according to Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr.
“The PEI will be given this December, bulos sa mga additional bonuses,” Salado said.
The bonuses were replaced by the 14th month pay set to be released this month along with the P5,000 cash gift and the first tranche of SSL 4, he added.
The 14th month pay may be released not earlier than Nov. 15 and the cash gift (P5,000) this month, too.
Employees should not expect additional bonuses, Salado said.
“Because of the adaption of SSL 4, gin dula na sya, unless President Duterte issues an order to the contrary,” he said.
In 2015, capitol employees received an additional bonus of P35,000 each.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon said the implementation of SSL 4 is much better than a Christmas bonus.
“This SSL sobra pa sa Christmas bonus kay ini sige-sige ya,” he said./PN
