JORDAN, Guimaras – This municipality has not recorded new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-9) from Dec. 9 to Dec. 17, data from its Rural Health Unit (RHU) showed.

This steadied the town’s number of active COVID-19 cases to just three – two local transmission cases and one locally stranded individual.

The three active cases were in Barangay San Miguel, Barangay Sta. Teresa and Barangay Balcon Maravilla.

Since March, Jordan recorded 85 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Seventy-eight cases have since recovered while four died.

The fatalities were from barangay San Miguel and Balcon (one each) and Barangay Rizal (two).

Mayor Ruben Corpuz urged his constituents to observe precautionary measures – wear facemask and face shield, physical distancing and proper hand washing.

Corpuz also discouraged the people of Jordan from gathering en mass because such could further spread COVID-19.

For the whole Guimaras province, on the other hand, cumulative cases since March reached 270 as of Dec. 17. But the active cases are down to just 19 – seven in Nueva Valencia town, six in Buenavista, three in Jordan, two in Sibunag, and one in San Lorenzo.

Guimaras also registered four COVID-19 deaths and 217 have recovered cases./PN
