No crime gangs in Iloilo – Gorero

ILOILO – No organized crime gangs operate in the province anymore, according to Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).

Gorero recently deployed police investigators in the northern part of the province to verify the reported presence of crime groups engaged in robbery and gunrunning.

Information reached Gorero the groups were being led by a former police officer and a retired military man.  They were allegedly operating in the towns of Sara, San Rafael, San Enrique, Lemery and even in the city of Passi.

While ruling out the presence of these criminals, IPPO is not leaving anything to chance, Gorero said.

“We will be watchful and continue to coordinate with the community,” he added.

The IPPO director instructed all his municipal police chiefs to strengthen their barangay information network and utilize intelligence personnel to monitor their areas of responsibility.

Gorero likewise ordered more operations on loose firearms, implementation of search warrants and installation of 24-hour checkpoints in strategic areas across the province.
