ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has recorded zero crime incidents in this city following the lifting of the ban on the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks.
ICPO spokesperson, Police Captain Shella Mae Sangrines said at the onset of Mayor Jerry Treñas’ easing of the outdoor alcohol ban, no rowdy incidents occurred, particularly in the popular Smallville Complex in Mandurriao district.
The police must, however, maintain visibility, said Sangrines.
She added that the conduct of strict frisking and checkpoints would be maintained, too.
On Thursday, Treñas amended Executive Order 137-2021 in light of the sale and consumption of liquor here.
“Considering that the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) does not have any mandate on the public consumption of liquor, we will allow (it) as long as the individuals fully vaccinated,” Treñas said.
According to Treñas, establishments offering alcoholic beverages shall admit fully vaccinated individuals only while observing 50 percent indoor capacity and 70 percent outdoor capacity.
Treñas urged restaurateurs and club owners to require patrons of vaccination cards and proof of identification prior to serving drinks.
The mayor also warned consumers to drink responsibly.
Serving liquor to minors is strictly prohibited./PN
