BY JEN BAYLON

ILOILO – The family of the victims of a tragic road crash in Oton on Jan. 14 has decided not to pursue any legal action.

Police Corporal Churchill Acosta Jr. of the Oton Municipal Police Station said the Santillan family and driver Joey Poblador came to their station at around 4 p.m. on Monday.

They reached an initial settlement, and the family has chosen not to file a case. Poblador has also been released.

Naka-talk na ang both parties, and may initial settlement na sila. Indi naman magpasaka kaso ang pamilya kag nakagwa naman ang driver,” Acosta said.

At approximately 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, the modernized jeepney driven by Poblador hit Lea Santillan, 42, and her teenage daughter “Jade” while they were crossing the highway in Barangay Poblacion South, Oton.

Lea lost her life in the accident, while Jade sustained injuries.

The driver allegedly failed to notice them due to the glare from the vehicle headlights./PN
