BACOLOD City – The local political group Love Negros does not have a gubernatorial candidate for next year’s elections yet, according to Vice Governor Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson.
Lacson, a top official of Love Negros, denied that Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District) is their official gubernatorial bet.
Benitez posted a photo of him and other Love Negros members on Facebook captioned “an official declaration,” which implied his intention to run for governor in the 2019 midterm polls.
The photo was posted on Tuesday but was taken down after Lacson’s interview on Wednesday.
Lacson said the public must wait for Love Negros’ official announcement.
He added that Benitez will “make the announcement in a proper forum” and not online.
“We all know him to be very formal,” Lacson said./PN
