ILOILO – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) maintained the peace and order in the city during the Dinagyang Festival 2023 “Pamukaw” and first day of the nine-day Simbang Gabi on Friday, Dec. 16.

As part of ICPO’s security plan, they deployed police personnel and force multipliers at the venue of Pamukaw in Plaza Libertad and churches across the city.

Among those deployed at the Pamukaw venue were the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), Motorized Patrol Unit (MPU), Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Unit (TIEU), and Public Safety and Management Office (PSTMO).

The ICPO praised the security personnel, force multipliers, and other volunteer groups who helped maintain the security and safety of the event.

The ICPO aims for “zero major crimes” and promises that security will be strictly enforced during the holiday season until the highlights of the Dinagyang 2023 in January.

Pamukaw is Hiligaynon for “wakeup call.”

The Dinagyang “Pamukaw” yesterday kick-started the festive mood as Ilonggos prepare for the annual festivity next month. /PN
