ILOILO – “There are no political job hires in the provincial government of Iloilo.”

Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. stressed this when asked if, like in the city government of Iloilo, there would be a mass layoff of job hires, too, at the Iloilo provincial capitol.

“Our job hires do real work. They are not 15-30 employees (who show up only during paydays),” said Defensor.

He also stressed that the provincial government gets job hires not for political accommodation but based on the needs of the capitol.

The provincial government currently has over 700 job hires, said Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, and they are mostly working in 12 district hospitals.

The upgrading of the district hospitals necessitated the hiring of more personnel, Banias explained.

Most of capitol’s job hires are nurses, medical technologists and hospital utility workers.

The 12 provincial government-run district hospitals are the following:

* Aleosan District Hospital in Barangay Bancal, Alimodian

* Barotac Viejo District Hospital in Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo

* Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Dalid, Calinog

* Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital on Alfelor Street, Passi City

* Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, Ilawod, Lambunao

* Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Barangay Ilaya 1st, Dumangas

* Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay

* Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan

* Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Tingui-an, Balasan

* Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Pungtod, Cabatuan

* Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital on Garriel Street, Guimbal

* Sara District Hospital in Barangay Anoring, Sara

Banias said there also job hires under the Bantay Dagat task force guarding the province’s territorial waters from illegal fishers.

Others are under the anti-overloading task force apprehending overloaded trucks, he added./PN
