BACOLOD City – No “Kasalan ng Bayan” or mass wedding will be held in this city this February, according to Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
“Daw nadudla na ako sang pirmahanay. Na-collate lang kag wala man gid damo naga-request sang mass wedding sa Civil Registrar, so naurot na guro sang 2023. So as of now no plans yet,” the mayor said yesterday.
The last mass wedding here administered by Mayor Benitez was in March 2023.
Dubbed “Officially You and Me sa ’23 with Mayor Albee,” the mass wedding gathered a total of 2,023 couples to match the figures of the year it was being held.
First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos was the guest of honor during the mass wedding at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds.
The event also included a raffle draw to give away various prizes for the married couples.
In 2013, this city also organized a huge mass wedding rites, where then-Mayor Evelio Leonardia officiated the matrimony of 2,013 couples./PN
