ILOILO – Eight towns in Iloilo province have no more active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of Wednesday, June 15.
These were Balasan, Bingawan, Guimbal, Leganes, Mina, San Enrique, San Rafael, and Tubungan.
As of June 15, the province has only 179 active COVID-19 cases left with Oton town recording the highest with 18, followed by Pavia with 15, Sara (14), and Leon and Pototan (12 each).
Here are the statistics of active cases in the rest of the towns and city: Anilao (two), Ajuy (three), Alimodian (one), Badiangan (one), Banate (one), Barotac Nuevo (one), Barotac Viejo (two), Batad (three), Cabatuan (seven), Calinog (three), Carles (one), Concepcion (seven), Dingle (four), Dueñas (one), Dumangas (three), Estancia (one), Janiuay (five), Lambunao (one), Lemery (two), Maasin (five), Miag-ao (one), New Lucena (two), Passi City (two), San Dionisio (three), San Miguel (nine), San Joaquin (one), Tigbauan (three), and Zarraga (two).
Overall, Iloilo province recorded 45,257 total confirmed cases – 43,622 already recovered and 1,467 died.
Local government units (LGUs) with high total confirmed deaths were Oton (113), Passi City (88), Pavia (75), Tigbauan (70), Dumangas (67), Miag-ao (65), Pototan (66), Cabatuan (54), Santa Barbara (54), Janiuay (50), Lambunao (55), Barotac Nuevo (47), Leganes (39), Guimbal (36), Alimodian (36), Banate (34), Barotac Viejo (32), San Joaquin (31), Leon (30), San Miguel (29), Badiangan (27), Dingle (31), Calinog (36), Estancia (25), Carles (22), Maasin (27), New Lucena (21), and San Enrique (20).
The Iloilo Provincial Health Office, meanwhile, has recorded a decreasing number in COVID-19 cases from January to June of this year.
The average cases per month for the first six months of 2022 are as follows: January (195 cases), February (116 cases), March (20 cases), April (six cases), May (two cases), and June (three cases).
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr., for his part, said that despite the declining COVID-19 cases count in the province Ilonggos should not be complacent and continue the strict observance of the 3Ms – Maskara, Magdistansya and Manghinaw.
