ILOILO City – The province of Guimaras has no more active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Capiz, on the other hand, has one case left.
The Department of Health (DOH) reported that has been four days since Jan. 30, 2023 that Guimaras recorded no new COVID-19 case. Capiz, meanwhile, logged one active case yesterday after around a week of having no cases.
Capiz’s Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro cited the cooperation of local government units and their health offices, hospitals, and other stakeholders.
“Nagapakita lamang ini nga posible mahimo ang tanan kag maangkon ang kadalag-an batuk sa sining makatalagam nga balatian,” said Castro.
The governor further cited the importance of having primary doses and booster doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccines coupled with observance of minimum public health standards.
As of Feb. 2, Region 6 still had 1,495 active cases of COVID-19; more than half of these were from Iloilo province (1,082), followed by Negros Occidental (299), Iloilo City (71), Bacolod City (21), and Aklan (11), Antique (10), and Capiz (one).
Data further showed that 50.77 percent of the total active cases in the region were asymptomatic; 40.60 percent mild; 6.62 percent moderate; and 2.01 percent severe.
Since its first case in March 2020, the region ha; 204,356 cumulative cases of COVID-19 of which 3.2 percent or 6,554 died and 196,137 recovered./PN
