No more formal probe re: city hall ‘lending’ activity

ILOILO City – The City Legal Office (CLO) will no longer launch a formal investigation relative to the alleged lending activity with illegal conditions at the city hall.

This , after the resignation of executive assistant and Beautification Team head Ninda Atinado, whom the investigation team had found merit to be formally investigated.

“Ma’am Atinado already resigned effective June 23 so this makes the investigation moot considering that she resigned voluntarily,” said Atty. Joseph Edward Areño, head of the investigating team.

Aside from Atinado, the investigating team also found merit to investigate another city hall employee.

However, this person is also facing a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman filed by a private complainant, also for a related complaint – absenteeism due to lending activity. Thus, the CLO will no longer conduct a formal investigation against the said employee.

“The Ombudsman has made an initial investigation, so it will run through that course gid ya. Naka-take cognizance ang Ombudsman first,” Areño explained.

Mayor Jerry Treñas earlier confirmed he accepted the resignation of Atinado.

“It is with regret that I accept the resignation of Ms. Ninda Atinado. I have worked with her for a long time and she had served the city since the time of former mayor Mansueto Malabor,” Treñas said./PN
