BACOLOD City – Philippine National Police (PNP) director General Oscar Albayalde warned cops sleeping while on duty of “surprise visits.”

Albayalde said police officers must always be on their toes.

He added that he already directed regional police head Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag to randomly check the posts of police personnel in the region, especially during wee hours.

The PNP chief was in Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, Negros Occidental yesterday, joining President Rodrigo Duterte in the inauguration of a housing project there.

According to Albayalde, he wanted to conduct the surprise visits himself, like what he used to do when he was still the police head in the National Capital Region.

“As much as I want to do it personally, I have my limitations. So I delegate it to my regional directors,” Albayalde said.

He stressed that provincial directors, field commanders and police chiefs must also check their officers.

On the other hand, Albayalde lauded the peace and order situation in Negros Occidental, stressing that dealing with insurgency in the province has improved./PN
