ILOILO – Not all employees of the provincial government or members of the public have yet received booster shots of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This is may be due to the fact that after their second vaccine dose, they have not yet reached the minimum number of days needed before they could get booster shots, according to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Because of this, the provincial government is not adopting the “no booster, no entry policy” at the provincial capitol.
A fully vaccinated person may already get a booster shot three months after his/her second vaccine dose, according to the Department of Health.
Defensor said the Provincial Health Office (PHO) will make available booster shots to employees who are already qualified for such.
“Pahingagaw ko ina sa aton PHO sa tanan diri nga naga-olobra pero we cannot imposed that (referring to the ‘no booster, no entry’ policy) kay ti indi pa ‘ya or waay pa ‘ya maka-booster ang tanan,” said Defensor.
Last month, Health secretary Francisco Duque III said boosters could be administered to adults at least three months after the second dose of a primary two-dose vaccine or at least two months after the primary single-dose vaccine is given.
Vaccines like AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinovac, or Sputnik are two-dose vaccines while Janssen is the sole single-dose vaccine currently approved for use in the country.
However, Duque said that those who are yet to receive their primary vaccine doses against the new coronavirus should be prioritized./PN
