ILOILO City – Residents of this city must just stay home, especially if they don’t have necessary transactions outdoors, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas.
The lloilo City COVID Team recommended that non-essential travel be discouraged due to recent incidences of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases traced by the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) to persons with travel history from neighboring provinces and cities with high numbers of COVID-19 cases.
“Non-essential” travel pertains to travel which are purely recreational, for leisure, or that which is not intended for work, business, or medical and humanitarian reasons.
For those persons who proceed with their non-essential travel, Treñas said, they are enjoined to observe at least five days of quarantine upon return to Iloilo City.
Department heads of the city government here, employers of establishments/offices operating here and/or barangay officials are advised to set out measures to adopt this city government advisory and closely monitor recently returned residents and employees who manifest signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
Furthermore, any person with a recent travel history outside Iloilo City and who, upon returning, exhibits any of the signs and/or symptoms of COVID-19 must observe strict isolation and immediately contact representatives of the local health authorities such as District Medical Health Officers, Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERTs), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and/or officers and staff of the Iloilo City Health Office.
Treñas reiterated that all persons must strictly observe minimum public health protocols such as wearing of facemasks, social distancing and adhering to the guidelines imposed by the local health authorities and the Iloilo City Government.
“While the Iloilo City Government exhaust all proactive measures in our health protocols, we cannot dismiss that the cooperation of the general public remains vital in this convergence of efforts to contain COVID-19 transmission in Iloilo City,” said Treñas./PN
