No parking on Lacson St. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. – SP

BACOLOD City – No vehicles should be parked on Lacson Street between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. everyday, according to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

The SP on Tuesday passed a resolution urging the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office to strictly implement the “no parking” policy.

Resolution proponent Councilor Caesar Distrito said there should be “sound traffic management” in the city.

“The developments currently happening in Bacolod brought about two things – a significant shift to the rush hours of the city and the increasing number of vehicles regularly plying the city’s main streets,” Distrito said.

According to the councilor, Lacson Street is the “busiest main thoroughfare” in Bacolod. It caters to thousands of “light and heavy” vehicles everyday.

Among the reasons behind the traffic jam during rush hours is the “blatant parking of vehicles on the street,” Distrito said.

This is why “systematic and strict enforcement of the ‘no parking’ policy should be done continuously on Lacson Street to prevent stressful traffic congestions,” the councilor added./PN
