No ‘political goons’ in NegOcc – NOCPPO

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said it has not monitored “political goons” or private armed groups in the province.

Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, NOCPPO spokesperson, said they already dismantled all previously documented private armed groups.

Most of those groups were also operating like criminal gangs.

“May mga existing kita…but sa monitoring sang intel aton, wala naman sila ga-operate as a general group,” Catalogo said.

Meanwhile as the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections are set to take place in October of this year, Catalogo said the previous baseline list of villages considered as hotspot areas remains the same.

Some of the villages on the list are far-flung in Himamaylan City and Binalbagan town.

The listed barangays are also those that have reported the presence of New People’s Army (NPA).

The monitoring of other villages have been lowered because intense political rivalries have died down, said Catalogo./PN
