BACOLOD City – There are no election “hotspots” in this capital city, according to the Police Regional Office(PRO)-6.

PRO-6 sent Panay News a text message confirming this after a Regional Joint Security Control Center meeting yesterday.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) earlier reported that it is closely monitoring six villages in the city that were considered as election areas of concern.

Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, BCPO spokeswoman, said on May 1 that the Commission on Elections has submitted to them a list of six Bacolod villages wherein there are intense political rivalries.

These villages were Alangilan, Estefania, Villamonte, Banago, Mansilingan, and Bata, Vargas added.

City Election Officer MavilSia, who also attended yesterday’s meeting, said they have yet to decide if these villages must be considered as election hotspots.

“These will still be subject to verification,” Sia added.

Meanwhile, the BCPO will deploy 300 police personnel to secure voting precincts on May 14, election day.

BCPO head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo said he will deploy his personnel to different strategic areas in the city a day prior to the election day./PN
