No power disconnection in Bacolod ‘til Sept. 30

BACOLOD City – The Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) will be extending its period of no power disconnection in this capital city until Sept. 30 due to the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

Roel Venus, chief of Ceneco Member-Consumer Integrated Services Division (MCISD), said the power firm will not disconnect any service in case customers fail to settle their unpaid bills for the previous months.

He, however, clarified this is only effective in Bacolod, saying the rest of Negros Occidental is under a more relaxed modified general community quarantine until Sept. 30 following the issuance of Gov. Eugenio Lacson’s Executive Order No. 44.

The move was Ceneco’s response to the city council’s resolution appealing to company utilities in this city to suspend disconnections due to the MECQ.

Despite of the “no disconnection” period, those who intend to settle their power bills may do so through Ceneco collection centers and banks, said Venus.

The Bacolod City Water District also issued an advisory that there will be no disconnection until the end of this month./PN
