No public gatherings, cockfighting in Ajuy

ILOILO – To curtail the possible local transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the municipal government of Ajuy reiterated its ban on public gatherings.

Yesterday, Mayor Jett Rojas issued an executive order enforcing such, “effective March 16 until March 29, 2021.”

“Barangay officials and the Philippine National Police are enjoined to strictly enforce the order,” Rojas said.

Prohibited public gatherings include:

* birthday celebration, fiesta, anniversary, wedding, and baptismal celebration

* funeral wake public viewing

* Sunday mass and religious gatherings

* school gatherings

* local government unit events, such as festival and other socio-cultural activities

Likewise, there should be no parties and celebrations in resorts and other similar establishments, only family, household or similar group excursions.

Rojas also suspended cockfighting activities, effective immediately until March 29.

“The police shall also conduct patrolling inspection to enforce minimum health protocol quarantine measures,” the mayor added.

As of Monday, Ajuy had 37 total confirmed COVID-19 cases – nine were active, 27 recovered and one death./PN
