MANILA — No sighting of unidentified flying objects (UFO) has been reported yet in the country, the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) said Thursday.
PhilSA said this through Sen. Francis Tolentino, who was defending the agency’s proposed budget next year during plenary deliberations in the Senate.
It was Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, who asked about UFOs, noting that PhilSA could be a repository of UFO phenomenons.
“Are you also the agency to go to if there are sightings of UFO, unidentified flying objects?” Zubiri initially asked.
“Meron ba silang alam na mga recorded UFO sightings sa ating bansa? Kasi yung NASA nilabas na nila e. Yung NASA nag-declassify na ng UFO records. Iniisip ko baka pwde sila din repository din ng mga unidentified flying objects phenomenons,” the Senate leader said.
NASA stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Upon consultation with PhilSa officials present in the session hall, Tolentino informed the chamber that the agency has not received any report of UFO sightings in the Philippines.
“…I was informed by the DG that they will try to endeavor pero wala pa daw reported sa’tin na UFO ngayon. Siguro natatakot sa bagyo,” he senator said in jest.
After Zubiri’s queries, the chamber declared the agency’s budget proposal deemed submitted for consideration. (Maila Ager © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
