MANILA – An official from the Department of Defense (DND) on Friday said he did not see any records of proceedings in relation to the amnesty application of Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
DND legal affairs chief Atty. Norman Daanoy said during a hearing of Trillanes’ coup d ‘etat case before the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 that there were no records of the senator’s amnesty application.
“There are no records of any documents pertaining to proceeding, deliberations, minutes of the amnesty applications pursuant to the implementation of Proclamation No. 75,” Daanoy said.
Proclamation No. 75 is the directive that granted amnesty to military and police personnel who were involved in mutinies during the time of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Aside from Trillanes, there were also no records of amnesty application of other soldiers involved in the 2003 Oakwood Mutiny, the 2006 Marines Stand-Off, and the 2007 Manila Peninsula Siege.
Branch 148 judge Andres Soriano had called for a hearing to receive evidence from the Trillanes camp and the government on whether or not the senator complied with the requirements for amnesty.
This is the second hearing he is conducting on the DOJ’s motion seeking an arrest warrant and a hold departure order against Trillanes after President Duterte issued a proclamation revoking the senator’s amnesty./PN
