ILOILO City – Ilonggo star guard Kiefer Ravena is satisfied being under the tutelage of NLEX Road Warriors head coach Joseller “Yeng” Guiao.
“Dream ko (talaga) to play under dad (current Talk ‘N Text KaTropa head coach Fedinand Ravena) kasi not a lot of players are given that opportunity, but I feel great to be under coach Yeng (Guiao) kasi kilala siya dito sa PBA na madaming dinevelop na players,” Kiefer said over the Sports LANG podcast on Sunday.
He added: “‘Yung opportunity na ibinibigay niya (Guiao) sa players di masusukat. As a player niya, you just have to be ready. Kunwari you played bad today, the next game gagawin ka niyang starting five to give you the opportunity to bounce back.”
The former Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles star admitted he felt scared the Road Warriors drafted him. His father, however, gave him advice on Guiao.
“Si papa naging coach niya si coach Yeng,” Ravena said. “You want to be under him as a player because he gives you opportunities. Ramdam ko bakit love na love siya ng players niya.”
The Ilonggo star guard revealed his ultimate dream is to lift a PBA crown with NLEX which is now undersized after trading big man John Paul Erram to the KaTropa./PN
