‘NO SECOND CHANCE’: Dismissal looms for six ‘drinking’ lady cops

“Bago pa lang sila sa serbisyo [pero] marami na silang violations. The deserve to be dismissed, says Western Visayas top cop Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan.

ILOILO City – Under the law, the six policewomen caught binge drinking in public in Sara, Iloilo deserve no second chance. Erring police officers have no place in the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), stressed its director Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan.

Walang second chance sa kanila. They violated the order of no less than President Rodrigo Duterte,” Pamuspusan said.

In early October, Police Patrolwomen Jean Tiongco, 25; Jeseel Cordivito, 26; Ma. Lorena Semilla; 26; Rose May Ogboc, 21; Shane Grijaldo, 26; and Pearl Joy Araneta, 25, were slapped with charges for less grave neglect of duty, less grave misconduct, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer (for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Municipal Executive Ordinance 025-D, Section 7 and Presidential and Philippine National Police directives).

It’s more than a month now since they underwent summary hearing for their offense, but the Western Visayas top cop still appeared enraged at the neophyte cops.

“Bago pa lang sila sa serbisyo [pero] marami na silang violations. They deserve to be dismissed,” Pamuspusan said.

The result of the investigation will be handed to Pamuspusan within this week.

“Their conduct might be a small violation but if you violate the word and instruction of the President, then this is a very big thing,” the region’s police chief said an earlier statement.

Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the six patrolwomen were restricted at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.

It was on Sept. 13 when the policewomen were caught binge drinking at Montejo’s restaurant in Barangay Pasig, Sara even if they were undergoing training.

That time, they were under the supervision of the Philippine National Police’s Training Service’s Regional Special Training Unit. They were not supposed to go out of their camp while in training./PN
