No security incidents reported at 52nd Paraw Regatta Festival

ILOILO City – The 52nd Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta Festival concluded with no major security incidents, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).

Held from February 23 to March 2, the festival, which celebrates Iloilo’s maritime heritage and environmental advocacy, attracted thousands of visitors.

The event, themed “Sailing Blue Waters on This Green Earth,” was marked by peace and order, with the Iloilo City Tactical Operations Center (CTOC) reporting a smooth and incident-free celebration, said Police Colonel Kim Legada, the city police director.

ICPO deployed additional personnel to key locations, bolstered visibility patrols, and collaborated closely with partner agencies, volunteers, and event organizers to maintain public safety.

Strict crowd control, traffic management, and emergency response measures were implemented, particularly in high-traffic areas like the Iloilo Strait.

Police assistance desks were stationed at strategic points, while a rapid response team remained on standby.

“Ensuring the safety of both locals and tourists was our top priority. The success of our security measures was made possible through strong collaboration with various stakeholders and the vigilance of the community,” said Legada.

The discipline and cooperation of festivalgoers also played a significant role in maintaining order. Authorities praised the public’s adherence to security guidelines, which contributed to the event’s smooth execution./PN
