KALIBO, Aklan – There were no security threats in Aklan during the Holy Week, according to the police.
Police personnel were on “full alert” across the province during the Christian annual celebration.
Security forces had been deployed to strategic areas in the province to ensure public safety.
Personnel from the Metro Boracay Task Force, Boracay Community Police Precinct and Task Force Boracay of the Philippine Army have monitored no threat as they stepped up their security measures in Boracay and its nearby areas.
Aklan Police Provincial Office director Senior Superintendent Lope Manlapaz said additional police forces were deployed to man checkpoints along the highways in the province.
These forces were augmented by personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company, Manlapaz added.
Police assistance desks were also set up in Kalibo and Caticlan airports, shopping malls and bust terminals during the Holy Week.
In Caticlan and Cagban ports, police officers and personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard also ensured the safety of roll-on roll-off passengers to Mindoro, Batangas and Romblon, and tourists bound for Boracay.
The Boracay Action Group-Boracay Fire Rescue and Ambulance Volunteers and life guards at the White Beach in Boracay also put up first aid stations in case of emergencies. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
