BACOLOD City – In compliance with health protocols to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has prohibited passengers from bringing a send-off party inside the Bacolod-Silay Airport in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

“May we again remind the public that only the driver of the vehicle with flying passenger/s and the passenger/s are allowed to enter the airport premises before the scheduled flight,” the airport management’s COVID-19 task force said in an advisory posted on Facebook on July 30.

Those who are part of the send-off party, aside from the driver, have been advised to alight from the vehicle and wait outside the main gate.

At this time, the terminal building shall be considered a “drop-off zone” only, and the driver is discouraged from overstaying at the airport premises, it added.

“This policy is being implemented to prevent airport terminal congestion and to minimize social contact. The airport security guards are directed to impose this policy,” the management said as it reiterated that the “no mask, no entry” rule must be observed at all times.

The Bacolod-Silay Airport has been accommodating more sweeper flights from Manila to Bacolod and vice versa since Aug. 1 until Aug. 15.

Still flying to Bacolod are Philippine Airlines (PAL), Cebu Pacific Air, and Philippines AirAsia from Monday to Saturday.

Flights scheduled on August 5, 8, 12, and 15, will be those of AirAsia.

PAL, on the other hand, will fly to the airport on Aug. 7, 10, and 14, while Cebu Pacific will have flights on Aug. 4, 6, 11, and 13.

The advisory also said those who have personal business at the airport, other than having a flight or personal inquiries, are required to secure a coordination slip from the CAAP Security and Intelligence Service office at least a day before the intended date of entry, or three days before, if the intended date falls on a Monday.
