No shortage in ATM cash – gov’t bank

ILOILO City – State-owned Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) in this city assured the public it has sufficient cash in its automated teller machines (ATMs) this holiday season.

“Land Bank is always ready.  Ang amon ATMs are sufficient gid katama. We have seven branches in Iloilo. There is sufficient cash to service all withdrawals,” said Hansen Chu, head of LBP-Iloilo.

The government bank anticipates a surge in ATM withdrawals.

During a visit to the office of Iloilo’s Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr., Chu said Land Bank ATMs would be operating 24/7 to serve the Ilonggos.

However, the bank slashed the maximum amount of cash withdrawal from P50,000 to P30,000.

This is one way of allowing more people to withdraw from ATMs,” explained Chu.

For 2019, Chu said, Land Bank would be setting up more ATMs.

He also said Land Bank already addressed the concern of provincial government employees – the frequently off-line ATM of the bank at the capitol’s ground floor.

The machine had been replaced with a new one, said Chu.

Land Bank set up the ATM at the capitol a few years ago to specifically cater to the cash withdrawal needs of provincial government employees. The machine, however, could also be accessed by non-employees of the capitol./PN
